I Don't Need Anyone
On independence, and where it sometimes actually comes from.
"I don't need anyone. I've always been very independent."
And I love independence.
But whenever somebody tells me they don't need anybody, I become curious.
Because there's a difference between: I can look after myself, and I've learned not to rely on anyone.
One comes from freedom. The other can come from disappointment.
And from the outside, they can look exactly the same.
That's why I'm fascinated by patterns.
Sometimes what we proudly call our personality began as something we learned to do because, at the time, we needed it.
The question isn't whether independence is good or bad.
It's simply: can you also let somebody be there for you?
